The Blind Leading the Blind
One of our favorite TV shows is Modern Family and, in my opinion, Phil Dunphy is the greatest TV character since Dwight Schrute from The Office. Earlier this season there was an episode about parenting and at the very end of the episode Phil said, "Once you have kids you realize that your parents had no idea what they were doing just like you had no idea what you were doing. You just do your best and hope you don't raise a serial killer." This quote has comforted us over the last few days as we continue to try and figure our little one out!

Sleep...what is that???
This past week the Eder Family has been starting to get back to "normalcy." Our return visit to the doctor went well and Kate gained 11 ounces (confirming that she is an Eder). But, we are still working under a tight eating regimen for the remainder of this week. Drew returned back to work on Friday and nearly fell asleep at his desk by 1pm while Erin and Kate did a great job on their own for the first time.
One of Erin and my favorite characteristics about Kate so far is that she is undoubtedly a snuggler! Her favorite place to fall asleep is on our chests and if the top of her head isn't touching our face she squirms her way up until it does. While this does play a part in our current sleep deprivation, we wouldn't have it any other way!!

1 Week Old
Today we are celebrating Kate's 1st week of life! Drew, Kate and I are adjusting to life at home and, for the most part, everything has been going great. Right now we trying to pork our little peanut up because she lost a little more weight than the pediatrician would have liked. Drew thinks this is very "Un-Eder Like", but we are still going to keep her ;)
Here are a few pictures of Kate meeting some of the important people in her life.

The first night at home...
Leading up to Kate's arrival, almost every person who has children laughed and said, "Get all the sleep you can now because once that baby arrives you won't ever sleep the same again." I did not doubt them, but also expected these to be exaggerated tales from the past. Well, after our first night home from the hospital the only thing I wish was that I had listened a little closer. Kate finally decided to hit the hay last night at 4am. My hypothesis is that the nurses at Hinsdale Hospital (which was WONDERFUL) slipped her a sedative while we were there. Either way, we lived to tell the story.
