Birthday Celebrations

We have enjoyed a wonderful week of celebrating Jack's big day!

Good morning, birthday balloons
Birthday brownies

He much preferred the brownies when they were covered in ice cream and served to him by Kate, in the bathroom

Completely appropriate to lick the frosting off of your own cake

Jack was lucky to have lots of helpers with present opening

New wheels!

1!

You're kidding me, right?  How could I possibly be that old?!

Jacky Boopta -

A year ago this morning, your dad and I were getting settled into our room at Hinsdale Hospital (after a drive-thru at McDonalds for a bacon, egg and cheese biscuit) with high hopes of a quick and uneventful induction.  We were so anxious to know if we would be adding a "girl baby" or, the unthinkable for your sister, a "boy baby" to our family.  The day of your birth was a little more eventful than we planned on, but the last year has been unbelievably seamless.  Jack, you have been a joy since the day you were born.  You are a snuggler.  You are a smiler.  You are chatty!  You are independent.  You have adorable blonde curls.  You are curious. You love your blankie.  Doc McStuffins always makes you grin.  You are happiest at home.  You are a walking baby!  You are a great sleeper.  You are brave.  You are laid back.   I didn't have a timer on, but I have to imagine you cried less in your first year than any other baby on the planet.  You adore your sister.  You are a big fan of the bath.  You give a great fish hook.  Your blue eyes are beautiful.  We pretty much think you are the greatest and we can't imagine our life without you in it.

Happy 1st birthday to you, Jack.  We love you so much!

I rocked my first year!  Bring on year 2!

Tonsil Fairy

Kate had a visit from the tonsil fairy this week!  While we were hoping to avoid this, a number of infections this fall in combination with general discomfort (medically classified as "massively enlarged") and some sleep/breathing issues made the decision clear.  Kate was a wonderful patient in the hospital and, so far, has been recovering really well at home.  She has been eating and drinking almost as normal since we got home that day.  Here's to a healthy 2015 for Kate!

Winter Break

Not to be outdone by his sick sister, Jack came through with a post-Christmas ear infection!

Jack has been taking steps for weeks, but now it's game on.

Christmas 2014

Another Eder Family Christmas is in the books!  We are going to title this holiday "Merry Strep Throat Christmas".  Even though illness changed some of our plans, we managed to have a fun few days.

While Kate opened presents, Jack grabbed a few bites of her breakfast

3 handsome dudes

We are very excited for these 2 hairy guys who got engaged last week!  Brittany has been a part of the group for quite a while so we are glad she will soon be officially family.

It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas

Christmas is in full swing at the Eder house!

There is a tree with a star on top

We took a quick trip to the North Pole (Adventure to Santa at Oakbrook)
Designing our sleigh

"Wait, hold on, we are at the North Pole?  Weird.  It was only like a 12 minute drive from our house."

Thanks for taking one for the team, Jack.

Success
