Four

Kate Kate -

It's official. As of today, we have a four year old daughter.  Four year old daughter.... this will take a little getting use to.  The problem with having a four year old daughter is that I still remember the day you were born like it happened yesterday. It seems impossible to think that four years have passed, that our peanut of a baby has turned into a little girl with a head full of curls.  In looking back at your past birthday letters some clear themes emerged; observant, strong-willed, curious, brave, funny and a home-body to name a few.  These are still reflective of you.  I think this year you have shown the most growth in more subtle ways.  You are more independent.  You are more aware.  You are more articulate.  Being a big sister has given you many opportunities to practice patience and empathy and cooperation.  Sometimes you were more happy to "practice" these skills than others:)  So, now that you have done all this growing into a big girl, anytime you want to freeze time would be alright with me.  Because we can't get enough of your snuggles or your imagination or your belly laughs with your brother or your sweet smiles.

Happy Birthday, Kate! You light up our life!
